LA METRO extensions for work, play
Traveling to popular areas like Miracle Mile, Beverly Hills, Century City, and Westwood will be easier! Commuting to work will only get better. Angelenos and visitors will be able to get around faster, bypass the search and cost for parking, and you can play a role in mitigating congestion and pollution! The next generation of children who learn how to use public transportation at an early age may never know how it used to be.
PURPLE LINE extension
9 miles of subway will be added on from Wilshire/Western going west over the next 19 years, with stops at these seven new locations:
- Wilshire/La Brea
- Wilshire/Fairfax
- Wilshire/La Cienega
- Wilshire/Rodeo
- Century City
- Westwood/UCLA
- Westwood/Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital
Scheduled dates of operation:
Section 1
The stations below are scheduled to open in the year 2023:
- Wilshire/La Brea
- Wilshire/Fairfax
- Wilshire/La Cienega

Section 2
The stations below are scheduled to open in the year 2026:
- Wilshire/Rodeo
- Century City
Section 3
The stations below are scheduled to open in the year 2035:
- Westwood/UCLA
- Westwood/Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital
Construction
Construction started last year on Section 1 of the Purple Line Extension (Wilshire/La Brea, Wilshire/Fairfax, Wilshire/La Cienega) and will continue incrementally.

EXPO LIGHT RAIL extension
Not only is the Purple Line being extended, so is the Expo Line. Look for seven more stations on that route very soon.
Phase 1 has been completed and connects the bustling Downtown LA at the 7th Street Metro Station to Culver City. Phase 2 is under construction and will connect Culver City to the beach town of Santa Monica.
