No Ghost Stories in North Dakota... Unless You Ask

Minot Ghost

Going back to my very 1st year (2008) of posting I noticed one I wrote about the fact that in North Dakota an agent does NOT have to disclose paranormal activity in a home they are selling or showing.

Minot paranormalJust so happens that my office assistant and I were talking about this just in the past week.

I was telling Oden that I have sold two homes that were reportedly haunted. One of them I think I told everyone who entered the "Ghost Story" as told to me by the owner. In that case, according to the owner, the ghost moved out. I never encountered the ghost but I always had a mild case of the "willies" when I was there.

Haunted MinotThe second home was a little different. There was actually a renter in the house that asked me if any paranormal activity had been reported because he and his wife were seeing and hearing things. I never saw anything but I went over with a Bible and did my own little exorcism and then I felt better. There have been no further incidences reported by the new owners.

While paranormal activity does not need to be disclosed in North Dakota we, at National Marketing Realtors, believe in "The Golden Rule". We will let you know if a house has a reputation for being haunted or if the house is just a scary deal!

Hi Bob.  No need to disclose.  I think I would do it just to be safe.

RealMan … that is good to know you will disclose what you know even if you are not required to do so. I’ve had the “willies” are few times while previewing a home.  It’s something we cannot explain … but rather have to experience.

We don't need to disclose here but I also believe if there's conversation about something like this out there, a buyer will hear it sooner rather than later, so better to disclose up front.

Actually Kimo Stowell the ghost in the 1st house moved along with some college girls when they left. They were the only ones to "befriend" the ghost of all the previous renters.
