Many people have trouble keeping their expensive tubs pearly white. I’ve devised a routine that takes very little effort and will ensure that your tub stays in mint condition. These tips can be used for tubs of any kind no matter what material your bathtub is made out of. Keep in mind that potential buyers often look at the condition of your bathroom when considering an offer on your home!
On a daily basis:
A daily shower spray – This is more of a maintenance step but it really helps to keep soap scum and hard water stains at bay. Just spray once a day after your last shower. What I like about these products is how simple they are to use. Very little effort, just spray and walk away.
On a weekly basis:
Bar keepers friend – This product has been a game changer for me. Not only is it super cheap but it cuts down my cleaning time. No more having to wait hours for products to work. I simply pour this into a sponge and work this into the tub in a circular motion and then rinse it off. The previous step I mentioned above does help facilitate the process. The bath spray makes sure that the stains that do develop are easy to remove. Bar keepers friend also work on glass showers. I generally use it to remove hard water stains. I definitely recommend this product for your home. If you are trying to sell your home I would also pick this product up. Nothing impresses potential buyers like a bathtub that looks new.
On a monthly basis:
Clorox soak – I usually soak my whole bathtub for about 45 min in a diluted solution of Clorox and 10-20 drops of tea tree oil. This also helps with stains but its main use is a powerful antibacterial. I would definitely do this every 2 weeks if you share a bathroom with multiple people.
As needed for those stubborn stains:
White Vinegar & Baking Soda – Both of these are great because they are tough on stains and not as toxic as some of the other stain products out there. The baking soda almost acts as a soft scrub. What you do is make a thick paste with the products. Let it sit for a while and then in a circular motion work the stain off.
