Visiting The Getty Center In January

 It was a cold Sunday afternoon when we visited The Getty Center ( well, anything below 65F is notoriously cold for L.A.). The views  were spectacular, as always:

 I often visit the Getty center. Every time it is an adventure. What not to love  about this museum? Great location with panoramic views of L.A.;  shows and rotating displays of art; tours, concerts, and gallery talks; beautiful unique garden makes every visit enjoyable.

If you are in Los Angeles, you have to visit the Getty museum.

Tip: Wear comfortable shoes and bring your camera!

Don't rush. Take your time.  Enjoy every little detail:)

Where, How, Exhibitions:  The Getty Center site.

1200 Getty Center DriveLos Angeles, CA 90049

Tuesday–Friday and Sunday
 10:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
Saturday 10:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m.
Closed Mondays.
Admission is FREE. Parking is $15; $10 after 4:00 p.m.

Tip: Find out what is ''the sound sculpture''. Look closely at the groupings of plants, arranged by color and texture.

Notice, how the walls, windows, floors and exterior pavings are organized in a grid composed of 30- inch squares.

I truly enjoyed current exhibitions. My favorite are Irises by Van Gogh, Goya and Manet paintings, and Woven Tapestries of Louis XIV are not to be missed!

Gallary tips: food or drinks are permitted in the galleries, turn off your phone, no flash photography, smoking are only permitted in designated outdoor areas, free wi-fi.

 Ask the museum workers how they prepared exhibitions. You'll be amazed by the amount of time and work it takes to present the art works( light, colors and texture of the wall , placement of each masterpiece, etc. etc. )

The boulders in the circular pool come from a gold bearing stretch of foothills in Northern CA. They are approximately, 180 million years old!

Kids and I spend the entire afternoon there...Good bye till next time. I'll visit you again soon:)

Inna, what incredible views!  Is that the Anaheim skyline in the distant background and the LA skyline in the foreground?  

I can see why you love going there, Inna!   So, does one wear a winter coat in your gelid sub-65 degree winter temps out in LA???

That is Downtown L.A. , Beverly Hills, and Hollywood Hills. 


Anaheim is about 1 hour drive, not that close:) 


 


lol, yes, it is cold these days:) 


Next Sunday is auto museum with its Vault. I'm so looking forward to it! Pictures are coming too:)
