Vintage InteriorsMelanie Leeds, founder of Vintage Interiors, began her decorating journey 22 years ago. She employs an eclectic style offering a unique portfolio at an affordable rate in Tulsa, Bixby, Owasso and surrounding areas.

Melanie has been designing for most of her life. "My mom was a florist and I've always been interested in interior design. I grew up watching mom work out of her home," said Melanie. Since she is the eldest of 6 kids, she was often the one assisting her mother by making a variety of floral arrangements at a very young age.

Melanie offers down-to-earth advice. With her eclectic style she is able to work with a variety of different tastes, which she said, "Makes it interesting and fun." She has the ability to combine beauty, comfort, and function to make her designs work for her clients. "I like to go to their home first so I can get to know the client. I ask them certain questions so I can design their living space and make it functional for them", said Melanie. Vintage Interiors Green Dresser

For first time clients she offers a free half-hour consultation where she gets to know the client in their home so she can get a feel for their usage of space. During this consultation she helps them with their unique needs, which might be to determine paint colors, window treatments, or furniture placement. She has a large variety of fabric and rug samples she can bring to the initial consultation to immediately offer the client a vision for what a certain fabric or rug will look like in their home.

Her variety of architectural design services extends from classic homes to rustic architecture and much more. Additional services she offers includes: residential and commercial design, faux painting, furniture, window treatments (shades, draperies), floral arrangements, artwork, remodeling, and redesign with current furniture. Some clients hire her to revamp their home by adding a 1-2 big pieces and a few small accessories to refresh the space.

Melanie said, trends for 2016 include neutral pallets with a pop of color such as orange, purple, turquoise. "People want to rotate colors so pops of color allow them to do this," said Melanie. Industrial looks are still hot so look for clean tailored looks with lots of hard surfaces. Specifically she said, "Look for mixing of metals. Gold is going to be very popular."

She described the best part of her job as "After I get to spend a lot of time with my clients I enjoy seeing them happy because their home is more enjoyable."

How fun her job must be.  She gets to meet new people and transform their homes into a thing of beauty.  Truly rewarding I am sure.

Melanie Leeds sounds amazing.  Her combination of "beauty, comfort, and function" comes across in the photos you shared. The living area is amazing.  It's the perfect example of a room where pillows can be exchanged for seasonal pops of color.  I think her hourly rate is more than fair!

I'm so glad I found you at Active Rain! I look forward to reading many more of your posts!
