What Horse People Say to Non-Horse People

What is the difference between a bridle and a halter?  What is a martingale?  What is a farrier?  What is meant by a hand?

Non-horse people have no clue what all this means.  To them, "horse talk" is a completely different language.

Here is a short video clip to help the non-horse people understand some of what horse people are really saying (or mean).  You may even get a laugh out of it.

Enjoy!

Hi Brigita - There is horse talk, but then other hobbies like photography and boating have their own inside talk as well.

Hi lady, really agree with grant.  Every fun activity has its own jargon, but we horsewomen "take the cake" I think.  You are righ Brigita that non-riders have no clue when I tell 'em my horse is a "mare" and that she's "17.1 hands."  Huh??  It's up to us to educate them and your fun video is a super start.  Go girl, giddyup!

Grant,

I am sure each hobby or sport has its own lingo.

Hillary,
