The Carlsbad Marathon is this Sunday January 17, 2016 in Carlsbad CA
We are into the New Year and once again it’s time for the Carlsbad Marathon and Half Marathon.
The Tri-City Medical Carlsbad Marathon takes place this coming Sunday January 17, 2016 in Carlsbad California.
The Carlsbad Marathon and Half Marathon are hugely popular, both with world class runners and new runners, as well as with the many viewers along the course. The reason? A significant portion of the Carlsbad marathon course is along our beautiful Carlsbad coastline on historic Route 101/Coast Road (videos), otherwise known as Carlsbad Boulevard, with spectacular ocean views and a gently rolling course.

Another reason? How many places can you run a world class marathon in January and not freeze your body parts?!

In addition to the full marathon (registration closed midnight January 13), there will be a Half Marathon, as well as a Kids Marathon Mile held at world-famous Legoland in Carlsbad the day before on Saturday January 16, 2015.
Residents and visitors be aware there are some significant road closures for the event, beginning very early Sunday morning, and signs are already out to let you know (to name a few - east bound lanes of Palomar Airport Road from El Camino to the Coast Road; Carlsbad Boulevard [the Coast Road] from La Costa Avenue all the way to the Buena Vista Lagoon).
The Carlsbad Marathon is a qualifying event for the famed Boston Marathon, and this year for the 2016 US Olympic Trials.
The Health and Lifestyle Expo is Friday January 15 from 2 until 6 pm at The Shoppes at Carlsbad (formerly the Westfield Mall) off El Camino Real in Carlsbad (just south of the 78 freeway); the Start and Finish lines are close by. The Expo continues on Saturday from 10 until 5.
