RAW Format in Sony DSC-HX200V GPS Camera

The main camera that I use is a Sony DSC-HX200V camera with built-in GPS. It does not have a good RAW format image capture. The lack of picture quality seems to be due to a lossy image capture.

Here is a comment I found online that discusses it:

All modern Sony cameras use cRAW 2.3 ,  lossy format with 11 / 7 bit precision.

Sony produce excellent cameras and optics (high price Sony-Zeiss optics !), but lossy RAW isn't a good solution.

Sony , please, create new lossless RAW format

I need the GPS function that puts the coordinates and even the camera direction in the EXIF data.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a camera that will shoot images with a higher quality?

I use a program called ExpertGPS that allows me to locate the photos on an aerial view of properties and to produce a KML file for use with Google Maps or Google Earth.

I would look at Canon, Nikon and Kodak.  Those are established brands and should hopefully provide you with the information you need.

Well you are way over my head on that one. It sounds like Ryan is pointing you in the right direction.

See It. Experience It. Live It.

I just bought a Sony mirrorless camera back in December.  While shopping for it, both former Canon and Nikon users that were in the proximity was gushing about how great it was and how light it was and how they gave up their more expensive camera set ups.      I was still apprehensive about my purchase.

Then my favorite real estate photography website named this Sony mirrorless  camera the camera or product of the year.  (I'm tired and can't remember exact.).  I'm under the impression that most active people on that website/blog are using RAW files.

So far, I've been so busy that I haven't had time to really compare my Canon Rebel quality to the Sony quality files  (The recommendations from the other users came from people with much more expensive cameras than my Rebel.     The light weight has been great.   Without thinking, I took some pictures on a four wheeler which was vibrating last week and I think they are actually salvageable.

The battery life doesn't seem to be very long.   But to get to your concerns about the RAW files..... I havent' had time to really compare the two cameras RAW file output yet.
