Anyone in real estate listing and selling knows no two markets are the same.
Ever thought of changing places in real estate duties where you practice now just to see how very different? There are a number of Maine real estate agents, brokers who also have a license in nearby New Hampshire or the sunny south. Places like Florida, the Carolina's or even in the exotic islands of the Caribbean.
For the surf and turf and split seasons to work where you play. To juggle two places to call home.
But wherever you list, twist and sell real estate, the higher the prices, the more players involved.
You don't run into home stagers on homes for sale in Maine priced in the teens, low twenties.
The houses for sale on the west coast with 7 point this, 3 point that and all those zero places do. And you bring in the paint police to make sure the colors harmonize just so for the feng shui, right karma. To tidy up the invisible areas of the real estate property listings for sale. Fixing the areas you lay awake nights worry about that you can't see. (Hurl) Excuse me.
In the more complicated, expensive real estate markets of the well heeled hoity toity.
No cheap yellow mustard. But lots more plush padded chairs used. Needed at the real estate closings. Because herds, posses of people employed to chop chop. To architect a real estate sale. Find the way to the sit down pass the keys please don't be late appointment.
Maine is none of that.
We keep it down to Earth simple with low to the ground prices and the fear of going head over heels in debt avoidance.
Maine is simple, frugal. Not cheap but real. Not store bought but home grown.
Free and clear, paid for and look Mom, no mortgage happens.
Build your own place with your own hands and bartering goods, trading services.
A work in progress. What's the hurry as you figure out the floor plan along the way. Take, make time to savor and reflect on your living area. As your craft the space where you come indoors. To hang your hat. Enjoy your chowder, baked beans, ham and eggs. Then lights out. Lay your head in the bed.
Homes slowly built in Maine without the expensive, hurry scurry.
So we can breathe easy and enjoy life in Maine. Not be pulled under water with debt worries. That make you old before your time. The good to die young.
The house I raised my kids in had a previous owner that did the same with four kids, one bathroom.
So when you see places for sale with the number of bathrooms exceeding the bedroom count by double, triple or more, something seems out of place.
Because money is an object, hard earned in Maine.
And other priorities would take the money all those bathrooms would to construct in a place to call home.
Stocking them with reading material.
Who likes cleaning house bathrooms too right?
But okay, that's right.
If you can afford eight bathrooms, you can probably spring for the paid help, the staff to herd all those tiny scrubbing bubbles. That do most of the work so you don't have to according to the boob tube ads.
Why do the rich, flush with cash hanker all these bathrooms?
How do you use more than one bathroom at a time? Real estate brokers on the west coast report that many of their house buyers expect, demand two bathrooms for every bedroom as the general rule.
I could see if you had a bed and breakfast, we were talking running an inn or motel, hotel. But a retirement home with two people and all those bathrooms. Is it boredom with one single shade of Kohler fixtures?
Or one day you are needing marble, the next granite? In various shades like the color of your many moods. To go with the matching Turkish bath towels and all those rolls of toilet paper to track and keep fulled loaded. Ready to take a spin.
In The White House, the People's House there are 35 bathrooms.
How about your castle?
In your real estate market, how many bathrooms does it take to sell a home?
In Maine we are grateful for one, it looks pretty special when the urge hits. And an extra half bath makes it all the better. So we can hit, run and get back outside where 90% of our waking hours is spent. And where camping out, sleeping outside is pretty popular during three seasons of the year too!
Maine, simple living and one big drop dead gorgeous place. Don't stay away so long. Hands up so we can address the questions about Maine beyond small talk about the property listings for sale.
