Saving for a down payment is one of the biggest hurdles first time homebuyers face. They may have suitable income and credit scores but coming up with enough cash to put down on a house is a road block to home ownership. I have found that accessing a down payment grant is a great way to overcome that obstacle. The FHLB (Federal Home Loan Bank) affordable housing grant program is a dependable program to get up to $7500 in down payment assistance for FHA/VA and conventional loans. The program is available in DC, Maryland and Virginia and also many other states.
I know of a couple of local lenders that can help get you started in the process. You can contact me at Rich Thomas -- Keller Williams Realty or contact my lender directly Tom Walters -- Old Line Bank
