Remember Bombogenesis Snow of 2015 in 2016

Well I can tell you the term is a meterological term I do not want to hear again in the Northeast...bombogenesis.  The weather forecasts for this weekend are like the same ones as a year ago.  Really and they said the El Nino would be kinder to the Northeast this winter!

Winter coastal RI real estate view

The coast had astronomical waves and tides so the waterfront homes are preparing for high tides.  Do have your emergency plans in place with friends and family (especially those who live alone), water, can food, propane for your outside grill, batteries, snow shovels ready to go.  It is early in this oncoming snow week but being prepared is the way to be.

We have a long way to go in Rhode Island but hopefully power will be up in homes.  Thankful for the electric companies preparing right now!

Hi Ginny.  I had to look up that word.  In simple terms, bombogenesis is the equivalent of a "meteorological bomb," according to The Weather Channel's Kevin Roth. It occurs when a storm's area of lowest pressure experiences a rapid drop of more than 24 milibars in 24 hours.

Sounds like the kind of weather when we do "mega soup ingredient" shopping before hand and fill the freezers with all thing Soup-er...Make Soup out of Snow and "enjoy"...(winter northeast version of lemon and lemonade :) )

Snow is something I never minded, but if they are calling for emergency plans to be in place, that's kind of scary and I wouldn't want to ever see that kind of snow again.

Ginny, did you lose power?   I did not hear this on the news.   I don't think the El Nino has been kind this year at all.  We will see snow until May!

Well I never heard that meteorological term before but whatever you want to call it, this storm sounds ugly. Sure hope it is not as severe as they say and that everyone takes the proper precautions and gets prepared. Stay safe!

Good Friday morning Ginny Gorman -

Well this is a new word for me.  Being a desert rat I guess it's something we wouldn't be hearing from the local weatherman on a regular basis.  We could use some snow, rain, sleet any type of moisture would make us happy.
