I Love Great Customer Service
I love to pass on stories when I find people behaving extraordinarily... something beyond what you would expect from another.
This week, I had a full day of inspections, two listings, 45 miles apart.
As I rushed from one to the next, I knew that quick food choices were in short supply in the neighborhood I was heading to. So, I pulled in along I-10 at the Wilmot exit to A & W. It's a nostalgia thing....every once in a while a "teen burger" sounds good.
At 12:10...the drive through had four cars in it already. I placed my order and waited. And waited. And waited. By the time I got to the window, there were several cars behind me. I quick grabbed my money, got my change, and took off...because I was now late for my second inspection at 12:30, a good twenty minutes drive time away.
By the time I hit the end of the drive through, I realized that I hadn't gotten my food. Full of chagrin, I parked my car and ran back to the window. No one was there. After about five minutes, they opened the window and confirmed the next car's order.
I interrupted and said, excuse me, but may I have my hamburger?
Well...it was "gone". Several of them were looking all around for the missing Bacon Burger. They asked for my receipt, which was back in my car. After a bit of tense interchange at the window I said, "Forget it, I'm late, I'll come back later!"
(I tend to get grouchy when I don't eat every 5 hours or so, and my rushed breakfast at 7 was long gone)
So, around about 4:30, back I stopped and asked for a manager, explained my story, and asked if I could please have a refund.
She was very kind and said, "Of course!" But then....she said, "Why don't I fix you up a nice vanilla cone"?
Why not indeed?
Customer service, above and beyond...when I was the one who drove off in the first place. I was impressed. I love Great Customer Service.
