Seniors in Motion. Seniors at Work and Play. Seniors Learning and Seniors Teaching.
If you plan to retire in Clayton County, GA, you needn’t worry that you’ll get bored without a daily grind to take up your time. You can stay as active as you like, with like-minded people, and even adventure into new and exciting territories.
If you are like me, and have looked forward to time to enjoy a second childhood, I’ve got a hot tip for you:
Since the day that the Frank Bailey Senior Center in Riverdale, GA opened it’s doors on April 25, 2002, the spacious facility has provided Clayton County senior adults aged 55+ a variety of opportunities for learning, exercising and social interaction and continues to foster a vibrant member community.
Seniors work out with seniors.
The gym and workout rooms at the center are fully equipped with exercise machines and stations designed with seniors in mind. Certified fitness instructors conduct classes specifically designed to meet the needs of the members -- from low impact to high impact.
Health and wellness classes and activities provide valuable information to members learning to manage changing physical needs and capabilities.
Ever thought about adding a water fitness workout to your personal health regime? The indoor, heated therapy pool at Frank Bailey Senior Center offers a place to play or to work out, with aquatic programs for all levels from beginner to experienced.
Seniors take up new activities and gain new skills.
There are plenty of opportunities for playing and for learning, with seasonal events, organized games, crafts classes, s
pecial interest clubs, card and billiard rooms, and variety shows put together by staff and volunteers. There is always something fun to get involved in. Love to travel? Try a day trip or even a weekender. Want to keep up with technology and get the best out of that tablet, camera or smart phone? Come to Frank Bailey and enroll in a class or club.
Seniors help other seniors.
This, to me, is one of the most rewarding aspects of being a member: seniors who volunteer to help each other keep learning, exploring new horizons and honing new skills. From music and drama, to Tai Chi, to container gardening, to computing, to photography, to writing for fun or profit.....the list goes on and on, because Frank Bailey members represent a diverse and talented range of backgrounds, skills and interests and thrive on sharing and growing together.
Seniors love a bargain.
We don't get to be seniors without gaining some money-smarts along the way. Membership fees are $12 a year for Clayton County residents, and $15 per month or $180 per year for out-of-county residents. Either way, that’s significantly less than most commercial gym memberships these days, but this membership includes a lot more than exercise.
