Your Past is the Indicator of Your Future

“The past is the best prophet of the future.”

Lord Byron 1788 - 1821, English Poet

As I see it. . . . . . . .

Your past is the indicator of your future

Your past . . . . has the tendency to repeat itself.

When you want to change your future . . . . You have to change your thinking so not to repeat the way things happened in the past that got you to where you are today.

What has happen in the past is based . . . . on your thinking . . . . your habits . . . . and your attitude.

To change the future you have to change your thinking . . . . to remove old unproductive habits . . . . and change your attitude.

Think in terms of achieving your goals . . . . and what can be possible . . . . and peruse them in new thinking . . . . a can do attitude . . . . and in your actions.

Change your old habits of limited beliefs . . . .  to the habits of unlimited opportunities.

You past is the indicator of your future . . . . until you change your thinking to change your future.

Excellent advice, Lou, as always. Interestingly, I use this concept when people want to buy a home that has been on the market for a very, very long time. I tell them that it's probably an indicator or how long it might take them to sell the home in the future. There's always a reason why a home doesn't sell within the time frame of the market.

The advantage of getting a bit older is that it allows us to learn from the past and correct on our past mistakes.

Our past will always influence our future.  We don't need to dwell on the past though, but we should always learn from it.

Like Nina, I often use the past history of properties to partially predict the likelihood a new listing will quickly sell. If I see it took 6 months to sell the home during one of the hottest real estate markets of record, well, that tells me something about my chances now. Sometimes, I will spot an isolated reason, though, and then I don't repeat that mistake.

In general I agree with Lord Byron but NOT spiritually Lou Ludwig I believe people have right down to their last second of life to change and accept the free gift of grace that has been before them all their lives which leads to a dramatic, everlasting change.
