Home Buying: How to Decipher Realtor Abbreviations

When a Realtor writes their description of the home or land that they are trying to sell they may have to abbreviate for space or use abbreviations that you don’t understand what it means. Let’s demystify a few for you.

BR: is commonly used to refer to bedrooms.

BA: is commonly used to refer to bathrooms.

Det: means detached for example there is a detached garage that is not connected to the home.

C/A: commonly used for Central Air.

C/VAC: commonly used for Central Vacuum.

OSP: commonly used for Off Street Parking for example in the city if the home has its own driveway or assigned lot/garage.

FCD YD: commonly used for Fenced Yard.

Others you may see would include SSA (stainless steel appliances), or GCT (granite countertops), OFP (open floor plan), the list could go on and on but for now we will stop.

Hope this helps you decipher what the listing is saying and if we can help you through the home, land, commercial real estate process call State Wide Realty Company at 434-392-6163 or visit our website at www.VaStateWideRealty.com
