Paavo
Thanks for stopping by and taking time out of your day to read my post. My intent is to put a smile on your face. Hopefully you’ll go away with some information you may have forgotten about or did not know. Now sit back and enjoy the post for the day.
Paavo was born in Turku,, France back in 1897 to Johan and Matilda. From all accounts Paavo was a talented student, he left school and worked as an errand boy for a bakery to help out the family financially. He pushed heavy carts up steep slopes in Turku, which strengthened his back and leg muscles. In 1919, while serving in the army while others marched he ran the whole distance with his rifle and his backpack full of sand.
You may know him better as Paavo Nurmi, he broke 22 world records in his career in the Olympic Games. Near the end of his life he was one of the richest men in Finland. BTW he was a self-taught mathematical wizard. One of his records stood for 17 years. He died in 1973.
