Where is it written that "size matters"?
Who said that "bigger is better"?
While the San Jose Bay Area Meet-Ups have experienced more members attending in the past, there is also something to be said for "less is more".
Meet the cast of characters who attended the San Jose meet up on Tuesday, January 26, 2016. I have to share with you that every time I look at this photo ... I just crack up!
I asked an employee of the restaurant to take a photo. I am not sure she has ever used an actual camera before. But that is okay. She was kind and gracious enough to oblige my request.
I sat up real straight so as NOT to block Peggy sitting on my right. Yes, it is true ... I look like I have a rod up my backside. So Funny. But wait, what is Gary doing with his tongue in his cheek? I'm pretty sure we said SMILE. I thought tongue in cheek was a kind of humor and not used for smiles. Oh well.
Back to the cast of characters. From Left to Right around the table we have:
Sam Shueh, Anja Kerstens, Mike Young, Peggy (Mike Young's guest) Kathleen Daniels (seriously erectus with a smile) and Gary Frimann.
While it is somewhat known that I have no issues being bald (my hair is growing out from the October head shaving party) I seem to have issues with a photo that looks like I have a rod up my backside. So I asked the employee to take another photo.
[Pardon me. I apologize if I am boring you. If you could only see me here laughing so hard I have tears in my eyes. Please bear with me]
The next photo she took was actually a video. Why do I think this is so funny? You can hear her ask "Did I take it?" Hysterical!
The above photo shows Althea Kippes who arrived a little later because she was held up at a property inspection. Althea is at the end of the table in the green sweater and beautiful smile. Oh, and the man standing is Gary Frimann ... who was "just leaving" and eventually did leave about 10-15 minutes later.
What a great group of Rainers!!! How blessed am I to know each and every one of them? Very blessed. Thank you ActiveRain!
When I learned it was Peggy's birthday, I bought a piece of chocolate cake and asked if someone would please bring it to the table - not wanting to spoil the element of surprise. Of course, what we see here are two glasses and a salt and pepper shaker.
Good Grief ... why can't I stop laughing?
It would surely be a do-over day if we just factor in the photos. However, it was a glorious meet-up day. We laughed. We cried. Yes, yes we did cry. We cried over the loss of our mothers. That is what real connections and friendships are all about. Meet-ups are not all things real estate.
After Gary, Mike and Peggy left I got to catch up with Anja. It had been far too long since we had the opportunity to talk.
After Anja left, I finally got to talk with Althea and Sam who have attended meet-ups in the past but I just did not get the opportunity to talk with them. This meet-up was the first of so many meet-ups where I got to talk with everyone there! Perhaps size does matter - Yes?
When Sam left, Althea and I just sat and talked. And talked. And talked. I was so happy to finally get to know his amazing woman.
Our meet-up started at 11:30am. Althea and I left the building at 3:30pm. I think I could have sat and talked with her though dinner.
So there you have it folks. If you've managed to read this far and you are not attending meet-ups you are really missing the out. There is nothing like meeting face to face and hugging a fellow Rainer.
Gary Frimann is hosting a South Santa Clara County Meetup on February 2, 2016. We certainly hope to see the same cast of characters at this meet-up and more. Given that I am not hosting this event I hope to get some better photos. I will then sell them to Gary to use in his post about the meet-up he is hosting.
