You received a promotion, only problem, it’s to the corporate office in Oklahoma! Your daughter called, hubby left her and she and the baby are moving in! You just retired and want to travel, not take care of a yard and home. You need an agent, and quick!
Make sure you don’t hire one of these!

Lazy Lucy the Listing Agent
Doesn’t take enough pictures, and the ones she does take are horrible.
Posts a very brief description of the property that is correct, but very weak.
Posts the property on the MLS board but does not promote or market the property.
Puts a sign up in the front yard, no flyers however.
Hopes the powers that be will bring a buyer for your your home.
Pushy Pete the Buyer’s Agent
Knows exactly what you want in your new home before you even do.
Takes hours asking you what you are looking for, then promptly forgets everything you said.
Sends you listings by the dozen, every day. Most not in the area or price range you requested.
When you go to see a house, he insists this is the perfect one for you, even when it isn’t.
When you make an offer, he insists you might lose it if you don’t offer more.
Arrogant Alex the Listing Agent
Tells you exactly how to stage your home, even if it doesn’t work for you.
Writes a listing with overly glorified descriptions that really doesn’t represent your home at all.
Approves showings for people at times you asked not to be disturbed.
Makes all appointments convenient for him, not for you.
Sloppy Sally the Buyer’s Agent
Shows up for the first meeting disorganized, no paperwork, and only asks a few questions about you want.
Rarely calls you with a listing you might like, lets you call her
Arrives late for the showing or doesn’t show up at all, without letting you know.
Doesn’t return your email or phone calls on time, if at all.
Closing takes longer than usual because paperwork was not done correctly.
And how do you make sure the agent you select is not one of these? Investigate! An internet search will find agents in your area. Check out the testimonials on their website. Ask for a referral from a neighbor, friend, or relative. If they had a good experience, so should you. Call a reputable agency and ask for a referral from them, they will not give you someone like the four above.
