There has been quite a few post lately about the Active Rain points system. This topic always gets alot of feedback from members passionate on both sides of the fence. Recently Bob Stewart posted a question What would you think if we eliminated the points concept on ActiveRain? someone expressed a concern that an agent might get upset if they were working hard on good quality posts and someone else was getting the same points for posting jokes, recipies or other non original content. While I answered the question at the time pointing out that low quality content does not get points, it is always nice to find the rule that supports the claim.
As one of the entries for the 2016 Jump Start contest we were asked to post about one of the AR Community Guidelines Imagine my suprise when I found this very issue is addressed in the guidelines. Yippee that was easy. smile
- The point system is intended to encourage and reward genuine effort. Points for blogging will only be awarded for your own original content.Examples of what doesn't qualify for points: jokes, recipes, inspirational quotes, poems, re-published marketing materials (newsletters, press releases, articles, etc.), information from government websites, bible verses, large copied sections of the MLS, or posts that only contain links and keywords, but offer no value for consumers.
Active Rain is a fantastic community of those people that make the real estate world go round. The creators did a great job at setting it up and supporting it through the many years. It is nice to see that hard work and forcused effort still gets you where you are going.
