Word is out about the proposed change  at the Crestview Minimax IGA, located in the Crestview Shopping Center just North of Justin Ln on Woodrow Ave.  Arlan's Market appears to be in ongoing negotiations with the current owners, and would expand their presence in Austin to a total of 3 markets (they have 2 in East Austin currently) if everything pans out.

We learned about the rumor a few weeks ago while dining across the parking lot at The Little Deli & Pizzeria (now famous city wide for their monster sandwiches and delicious pizza, and allows BYOB of your favorite adult beverage).  The last few days residents have started discussions on the neighborhood listserve about the future changes, shared memories and hopes for what might transpire.  The Minimax has long been a staple for the Crestview / Brentwood residents, and offered local high school students employment opportunities at the check out lines.  A few years ago they expanded their beer / wine selection, offering a healthy variety of local and popular microbrews.

One of many changes happening in our neighborhood and around Austin.  Hopefully one that will embrace the history and character of the shopping center and continue to support the local community.  Out of the discussions has emerged news of Dia's Market, which is set to open in the coming months at Justin and Lamar.  The owners are neighborhood residents and look to offer a wide range of grocery products, and will have a deli counter, coffee bar and a few tables out front to relax and stay awhile.  Stay connected regarding progress at their facebook page, Dia's Market.
