Winter 2016 AR MeetUp in Calabasas
And Some Thoughts About ActiveRain
On Monday, January 25 a small group of ActiveRain members from Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles Counties came together once again for Winter 2016 AR MeetUp. This time the location was in Calabasas at Industry Bar and Grill. Although it was short notice --- almost like a Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland impromptu Open House it was successful. The gathered group had a good time sharing food, drink and stories.
Ron and Alexandra Seigel from Carpinteria in Santa Barbara Country were the first of the hosts to arrive. If you have questions about branding, travel and/or living the good life -- these two are great resources for information and fun!
I made the trip west from Pasadena and arrived far before the 5pm meeting time due to the unpredictability of our efficient freeway system so I found a nearby wi-fi spot where I could catch up online with Roger D. Mucci before heading to the restaurant.
Ryan Huggins - Thousand Oaks, CA chose the venue and announced to us that the trip was a relatively easy and stress-free ten minute drive. Did he arrive in his Search and Rescue vehicle? It may have been his first MeetUp but Ryan dove right in as if he was on one of his volunteer missions in the nearby canyon areas of Malibu.
Next to arrive was host Endre Barath, Jr. who longingly looked at the wine bottle on the table while he waited for his glass to arrive. The Land Guy knows his stuff and was busy with an ready-to-go client visiting from out-of-the-country.
Inna Ivchenko had a particularly trying day with a short sale transaction(yes,we learned they still exist). Hopefully, this issue has been resolved so Inna can continue to prosper in 2016.
As one might imagine the talk involved ActiveRain. The recent webinar. Points. Changes. Questions. Answers.
There was talk of our industry at Industry. Changes in our communities. Branding. Flipping for profit. New players entering the market place.
And then there was other stuff. Want to know more? Come to the next AR MeetUp or host your own.
I want to add this:
I joined ActiveRain for my business. I have learned a lot. I continue to learn everyday. There is business that I have enjoyed because of ActiveRain. Like any marketing activity(and I do consider AR marketing), it did not occur overnight but over time while putting forth effort that made me wonder at times -- is this worth it?
However, it is the the relationships that have been formed that have been a surprise to me. I was having a conversation with Noah Seidenberg --- that would not have been as probable without ActiveRain.
And I’m grateful to AR for that. Things can and do change but many of the relationships and friendships that have occurred because of this place are, I feel, quite enduring. Just my two cents. So if you have the opportunity attend a MeetUp.
