Can Landlords prohibit Handguns on their properties?

Lease AgreementIn the State of Texas...Yes! Landlords can give written or verbal notice that handguns are prohibited and can ban open carry, concealed carry or both.

Written notice to prohibit concealed or open carry on the premises can be done through a posted sign or documents in a lease.

There is alot of controversery over this.  Some feel they are taking away the right to defend ourselves, some say gun owners are not a protected class.  What is your opinion on the matter?

Tough Call... But if I were the Landlord I would want to limit my liability as much as possible. I'm not sure a don't ask- don't tell policy would cover a landlord from being sued in a wrongful death suit if it took place on their property. I guess we should all be working the gun owners - to become property owners to secure their rights.
