My buddy Steven Smith told me to go and sign up on ActiveRain back when ActiveRain first started.
I signed up, but did not start blogging for about a year.
By the time I started blogging he had a 100,000 point lead on me and it stayed that way for many years.
I pretty much figured I would never go by him.
At some point he slowed down his blogging in the rain and it was only recently that I realized he was in sight---just around the next bend---napping by the side of the road.
I had slowed my own blogging down to a crawl as well, which made the site of his bushy tail off in the distance all the more surprising.
In the quest to keep up with him (ever mind catch up to him) it did not help my cause much that, he got 10% of all my blogging points!
In the early days we had a ton of fun with the antics of Nutsy the Squirrel, Raven de Crow, and Barbara Duncan. If you do a Google images search for "Nutsy the Squirrel Buell" you can still find dozens of photo-shopped pictures from those many adventures.
Sometimes Steve just liked to play dress-up.
But most of the time he just liked to spend quality time in his favorite jacket.
As I post this, I will have gone by him, but I am a little concerned about what will happen when the hare (or in his case the squirrel) is awakened and discovers the turtle is now ahead.
Regardless, if it had not been for Steve, I might not have been lucky to have found my way here----and I am totally grateful for that.
