On January 26th the State of Connecticut honored Middletown area Veterans of past wars with the State of Connecticut Wartime Service Metal. As a Vietnam Veteran I was among those who were honored on January 26th with a Medal.
I has been many years since I was discharge from the Navy in September 28, 1974, but as long as that was there 
were Veterans present with metals much older than me. The oldest was 90+ years old and served during World War II (picture below).
This is the first time I am aware of a individual awarded given for those who served during my era. The State Of Connecticut Wartime Service Metal was by the instituted by the Connecticut State Assembly last year to honor and recognize Connecticut Wartime Veterans. 
The State Of Connecticut Wartime Service Medal will be presented to others across the State by their State Senators and State Representatives. However, Middletown, CT was one of the first to hold this ceremony to honor their Veterans and I was among one of the first to receive it.
There were about 75 recipients of the State Of Connecticut Wartime Service Metals on September 26th, and many family members were present for the presentation. Among those who received a Wartime Service Metal was a father and two sons (picture below).
It is not often I complement our state politicians, but this is one time I think they need to be recognized for having the foresight to institute the State Of Connecticut Wartime Service Metal which will be presented to both present and future Wartime Veterans.
