What do you do when someone follows your blog post? Singing & Ringing in the Rain, that is Active Rain with John Cooper from Roseville,CA.
Well there are no real protocols that is expected from you, it is an individual choice. Some people immediately send a thank you email through the platform. Others comment on the person’s profile, then again others reciprocate by following back the person who took the initiative. All good moves to connect with the person who took the first step.
Well the first thing I did was let me check out the person’s profile on Active Rain, then I started reading what they had to write i.e.: their blog posts.
Wow I was blown away, first post and it got Featured, almost incredible, so with that said I took the next step. I called and amazingly enough no phone tag, no chasing let me get back to you. We immediately had a detailed conversation and found it interesting.
What brought you to Active Rain? Well I did my research and this seemed to be the best platform to expand my business...I see you are a Rainmaker already…yes I figured might as well maximize the benefit of the Blogging Platform. Needless to say it was clear I was dealing with someone who was very mature and ahead of his time and ahead of me when I was about his age…
I see you are in a partnership is that your father? Yes, I have been in the business for ten years and circumstances allowed it and it was a good time for my father to join the business. Wow I was really impressed now; this is not what I was expecting to hear. Well I was expecting the…you know... the usual, I am following my father’s footsteps since he created a good business and he needs help and I got nothing else to do….
How is your business? Last few years we were doing Short Sales to the tune of 40-50 deals a year…. Gulp Gulp…. I had my hair turn grey from two short sales, lost a lot of hair and increased my wine consumption and advised all my clients that wanted to do a short sale is to buy a gun and put themselves and me out of our misery, but please do not do a short sale selling or buying…. and here is John Cooper doung 40-50 of them...
Well what do you expect to gain from Active Rain? Well I have an open mind and will see what develops…ask me in a few months…
