Rain and High Winds Did Not Keep Me From My Open House

We need rain in California.

I didn’t particularly want it during my open house.

But there isn’t much I can do about it.

So when I heard that rain was predicted Sunday afternoon....

I made sure my open house directional signs were out early.

Some drizzle started.

I turned on my lights and my windshield wipers.

As I headed to my open house….I saw one of my signs had already tumbled over.

All In A Day's Work

So I stopped and put it back it place.

A couple of others along the way needed to be placed back in their upright position.

I answered my phone in route.

Are you still having your open house today?

Yes.  I’ll be there at little before 1 and until 4PM today.

Attendance was brisk that first hour.

But the rain started coming down pretty fiercely.

And wind.

Howling wind.

Some others came through.

About 3PM -- I asked two slightly soggy visitors -- how did you find me?

They replied.

Your signs.

That’s good.  That means they are still standing.

Well...some were….but we managed to figure out the direction based on how they were positioned along the road.

(My Open House was on a winding road in the Hills).

Like leaving crumbs along the path to ensure not getting lost, people found thier way to my open house.

Who says Los Angeles drivers can’t navigate through some rough weather?

And I’d say there were some pretty motivated buyers out there today too.

Good morning Michael. It doesn't matter how many attended, as all you need is one buyer, hope that was accomplished.

Michael Jacobs They must have been real troopers to be out in that rain.  Good for you!  I previewed some homes for a buyer last week 30 minutes after a tornado touched down.  Crazy, I know, but it was so hard to coordinate all parties that no one wanted to cancel.

Hi Michael.  Real buyers brave those kind of conditions.  Not the toilet flushers.

Michael

Hope it was well attended and perhaps will be followed by an offer or two. Signs in the wind are a pain bt doesn't sound like it was a huge issue. BAd weather normally doesn;t keep away motivated buyers

The rain is badly needed and one hates to complain - it's been a strange storm, sort of moving in an out wuth VERY heavy rain and wind early this AM and now it's totally clear and sunny

Most importantly, it didn't keep the potential buyers away either!  Love the bread crumb analogy!

Michael,  We had little rain in San Jose but it was hella windy! I had re-bar put in each of the four legs of my open house signs. It really helps keep them in their upright position ... also makes heaving in and out of the trunk a little more challenging.

Hi Michael, these two visitors are the definition of model buyers. Nothing will stand in their way of finding their dream home. Sellers of this home chose the perfect Realtor to get their home sold.
It seems as though life stops when we have heavy rain in my area, drivers forget how to handle a car, events get cancelled, definitely no open houses.
