When We All Row Together We Make Greater Progress

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

Row RowI have always said in a real estate transaction, there are four main parties, buyer, buyer agent, seller, seller agent. True, there are ALL the other parties, lenders, inspectors, appraisers, settlement companies, stagers, etc. but these four are like the oarsmen in a boat.

It has fascinated me ALWAYS when one of the four is rowing COUNTER to the rest and all hell breaks loose, even one of those "agents".

It is imperative on the part of at least ONE of the agents to get everyone rowing together to move forward with synchronization to accomplish the goal of a completed successful transaction.

Keep your eye out for the the one or more in the boat not rowing "together" and prod them to get with the program.

Something that looks so easy at the outset can end up with a "stalled" boat in the water, if everyone is not "together".

What a great picture, and good analogy. You could actually have many rowers who need to be in synch.

This is true in a real estate transaction - and in any project carried out by a group. I think of my days in animal rescue when one or more began rowing the other direction...

Just when everyone has synchonized the lift and dip along the way it is the client(s) that drop an anchor.

Someone may have already said this but, "Rising tides lifts all boats."  Love that phrase to remind us to work together in every transaction for a smooth transition for our clients.

I agree with you in theory.  Sadly there are too many Win-Loose minded agents and clients.

Simple, but difficult. Have you ever read the book The Boys in the Boat? It's an incredible true story of a team of young men at University of Washington who overcame incredible hurdles to win in the Olympics in Germany. A masterful tale and one that we could all learn from, no matter what the business as you so aptly describe!

It's interesting how just one person on the transaction team can throw off the progress so easily by not doing their job, not maintaining contact or otherwise behaing in ways that are counterproductive. Individuals agendas do not work well in a team sport, or a real estate transaction. Seems to me we all have acommon goal - a closing

Gary, this WAS a good post, and we do all need to oar together or the boat sure could go sideways!

When no one rows...

Good post, Gary. Ideally, all parties would be self motivated to row together, however sometimes a cheerleader is needed.

Gary - this metaphor is spot one.  Exactly what needs to be done when one is now rowing in unison.
