Good morning everyone-On my Florida getaway I stopped at St Petersburg where they had this place with some of Dale Chihuly's work on display. I learned a lot there about Dale and how he got his start, his education, his car accident in his 30's which rendered him blind in one eye yet he went on to create much more. He is now 74 and is still a driving force behind his works of art.
Another car accident later on injured his arm so that he wasn't able to blow the glass. I learned how they get the color in the pieces. The lady that showed us his work in this place was VERY knowledgeable and it was wonderful learning more about the man who created such beauty.
I was able to have the time also to play with the settings and got some decent shots. I also saw some different sculptures that I hadn't seen when I was in Denver and they had an exhibit in the botanical gardens.
This was a wall of these
These were set up in a room by themselves
This was on the ceiling in one room.
This giant piece went almost all the way to the floor.
These were on the ceiling of this hallway laying on glass the whole length of the hallway
This display was in a room by itself and this first one is taken from one end of it and the next one is from the other end of the same display.
The boat of balls part 2.
The second pic of them was taken at the Botanical garden in Denver and was actually in the water. I didn't know til now what the two together would look like. Both VERY pretty.
Even with the absence of color it is still a work of art and beautiful.
Seeing these displays was one of the highlights of my mixed bag of my Fla trip.
