We had a trip scheduled to Denver to be with our family this Sunday. Prior to taking off, our family and friends were sending us texts and weather reports of the big storm. We had also scheduled several business appointments for Monday.
Ron had promised our grand nieces and nephews (all 5 of them) a magic show. It is one of his hidden talents. There was no way, we were going to disappoint the little ones who had set us a special table and stage. He spent Sunday afternoon teaching the little ones several tricks to perform for the adults. The show was wonderful, and the kids were delighted.
We managed to make the snowy drive to our friends' home. Monday morning it was still snowing as we made our way to our appointment nearby. Our friends invited us to stay another night as they were sure our flight would be canceled.
We made it to the second appointment, and the snow was falling even harder by the time we had lunch. We decided to head to the airport. We were told at the gate, we were told the plane would be taking off on time, and other planes were landing after some 600 flights had been previously canceled.
As we waited, for our flight to arrive, we noticed the snowplows hard at work on the tarmac, clearing it for the arrival of our plane. The teamwork of tboth Southwest and the airport workers was amazing, and inspiring.
This morning we received a picture of my sister-in-law's backyard. The email read, "My backyard...sorry you didn't stay over."
It is good to be home. We landed on time! It was a great trip full of magic and teamwork. We wish you all a magical week.
