Book Review - Craftfail - When Homemade goes horribly wrong

By
Managing Real Estate Broker with Keller Williams Premier Realty

I recently read a book at bedtime that turned to be a big mistake.  Not reading the book, reading this particular book. I laughed so hard, I couldn't get to sleep.

Craft Fail -When Homemade Goes Horribly Wrong, by Heather Mann is a compilation of pictures of crafts that didn't quite go the way they looked in Pinterest.  Along with Heather's clever commentary, this made me cry (in a good way!)

Pinterest is a collection of pictures.  Kind of a brag board.  People post everything from recipes to home decoration tips to craft ideas.  Each picture is a perfectly composed beautiful example.  We who love to craft drool over these ideas and run out to the hobby store and buy supplies, anticipating an equisite outcome.  Won't our family admire us?  Well, not so fast.

This book has page after page of failures started out with the highest of intentions.  Maybe this book was so funny to me because of all my craft attempts.  If you are looking for a good book that will take your mind off your cares, check this one out.

Craft Fail is also a website.  If you want to see more fails, check it out.

If you are interested in purchasing, go to a post of Women of Westchester Working Together .  Click on the word Bona.  It will get you to Amazon, where you can search for CraftFail. When you purchase this way, you will be helping her out.

Have you read any funny books lately?

Joan, this is a reminder to me that I'm not Martha Stewart!  I'm pretty much all thumbs when it comes to crafts.  Cute post.

I've seen some on line.  But for books and humor I generally read Janet Evanovich.  But my favorite is murder and mayhem.  Pat's comment made me think of a plaque a friend gave me.  It's says "Martha Stewart doesn't live here".  It's true.

Oh wow, thanks for the plug.  I so appreciate that.  this looks like a great book.

Maybe I should start recommending great books.  Of course, I don't seem to have time to read any.  But, I can take the suggestions from many here.

Oh, and I can so relate to this.  I can never make things look they way they do either.

Too funny Joan Dickie Maybe the craft stores are really the posters on Pinterest hoping we keep buyin and buying.  Guess we are better at sellin real estate than making crafts look good

I think Pintrest was invented by the devil.  When my daughter was a teenager, she was forever finding a "super-cool" new thing to make.  No matter what - food, craft, whatever - it was a huge, expensive mess.  Still, I sure do miss it sometimes.

Thank you very much for sharing this book and the website.

Some of the craft and kitchen failures make good blog topics.
