Upcountry Farmers Market in Pukalani Maui Hawaii, every Saturday
OK, so I promised to come back and show you more highlights of the fun little farmers market in upcountry Maui, in Pukalani. It's located at the newish Kulamalu Town Center, you know, with Long's Drugs as the anchor tenant. Every Saturday morning you can come and shop for local produce and food items for sale, with organic being the theme.
Here on Maui we like our food clean and healthy, despite the fact that the agri-giant Monsanto has roots down in Kihei. (If we could vote them off the island we would!)
So feast your eyes on some great looking fruits and veggies and other delights.

My friend Suwanlee is a great cook and she spends all day Friday preparing her specialties such as breadfruit curry, green papaya salad, and Thai coconut soup to sell at her stand. People love it and come back every week, so she often sells out early.
You can also find plants that are locally grown, heirloom seeds, jams and honey, and other products made right here on the island.
We can all help to support the local farmers who do this out of love, as you know they aren't getting rich. It's not easy to make a living growing food for your neighbors, but thankfully some folks still do it. Imagine a world where all the food comes from factory farms and we have no choice but to buy and consume their bland and toxic fare! This takeover is happening slowly and a lot of us don't even know it. Please pay attention to where your food comes from and keep it local when possible.
Long Live The Farmers Markets!
