And So It Begins….
Super Bowl 50 is over. (sigh) Football is over. (sigh) Yes, some of you couldn’t care less; some of you call that other football played in other countries football ( Dick Greenberg ) but for me, it is the beginning of my annual after-football-season-depression.
I was rooting for Denver all the way. I have the utmost respect for Peyton Manning and was tired of hearing so many say he was too old. And, call me old school but I’m happy he doesn’t call himself a Super Hero or Superman like some of the younger players.
I was born and raised in Texas. Football is everything. I can remember going to two college games in one day when I was growing up. My uncle went to Rice so we went to quite a few of those games, but there was also high school football as well.
What are you doing on a Friday night in the fall in Texas? Going to a high school football game!!!
What’s one to do until football returns??
There will be March Madness beginning soon (March, duh!) and I will fill out my brackets and hope that Larry’s alma mater (the Jayhawks of KU) makes it to the Final Four.
We’ve started watching the Tour de France, which starts in July. No, I’m not crazy but it’s fun watching and learning about the countryside as the cyclists careen around curves at amazing speeds.
And, let’s not forget the Summer Olympics in Rio De Janeiro that begin in early August. I suppose the biggest question will be how many swimmers will become sick or infected by the waters.
So until August 7, 2016, with the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game, I will just have to wait. Of course, there’s always college football, which I love as much, if not more.
Don’t worry about me…. I’m just resting my football voice for now.
One more thing…. my two cents on those end zone celebrations. They’re ok if the tone is “Yea, we scored.”
But, if it’s “Look at me, I’m great! I'm Superman” then I hope they ditch it. Enough is enough.
