Norkirk is a historic district in downtown Kirkland that was originally developed in the early 1900's. Located North of downtown between Market and 8th St, the new bungalows and craftsman-style homes of the era reflected the arts and crafts movement popular throughout the U.S. Many of these cottages still exist today although, over the last 20 years or so, most have come down and been replaced with gorgeous million dollar and multi million dollar homes. The transformation continues today and spacious plots, once farmland for the original settlers or summer cottages for wealthy Seattlites, are being short platted by the dozens to make room for a more modern experience.

Eclectic Mix of Old and New..

Homes in the Norkirk neighborhood are an eclectic mix of old and new. Home sizes of 3000 to 5000 square feet are now the norm. You will see varying architecture reflecting the change in popular choice over the last twenty years. A 1999 Craftsman will be next door to a 2016 Ultra-modern Box Style home and somewhere on the block a 1910 bungalow is sure to exist. The district is rolling in topography and the best views are from 1st and 2nd Street, high above the historic Market Street district. Here the views of Lake Washington and the Olympic Mountains stretch before you and glorious sunsets finish the day. The most expensive home recently sold in the Norkirk Neighborhood was valued at more than $2.18 million. There has been a record number of building permits issued by the City of Kirkland and many more luxury  homes are on the way. Looking for something new and cutting edge? You can find it in Norkirk.
