Do you ever think about the early days of our country when pioneers went by wagon train and became part of creating new towns and cities? Those were very difficult and challenging times but the brave pioneers forged forward to settle new territories. We have a brand new city that will be coming out of the ground known as Babcock Ranch, Florida.
Syd Kitson had a dream to create a solar city. It has been a least ten years that he resolved that this vison could become a reality. Kitson & Partners purchased the 91,000-acre Babcock Ranch wildlife preserve. 73,000 of those acres were sold to the state of Florida for preservation leaving 18,000 acres for the new city that is to be fueled by solar engery. According to the Sun Herald news paper (www.sunnewspapers.net) there will be "19,500 residences for some 50,000 people." According to the article on February 6, 2016 it will be complete with smart grids, charging stations for smart cars and large solar panels.
