ASK AN AMBASSADOR: Think Like A Consumer For Blog Topics
What's the purpose of your blog? Most likely it's to get consumers to contact you about buying or selling homes, with a side dish of agent to agent referrals thrown in for good measure.
So how do you get those calls? You generate content that appeals to consumers, ideally information that isn't EVERYWHERE on the Internet.
Almost every day your clients provide you topics for your blog IF you just catch the questions.
- I'm a first time home buyer, do I NEED an agent?
- Are there any patio homes in Mason priced under $250,000?
- What are the steps in the home buying process?
- What can we ask to be repaired after the home inspection?
- What stays with the home we're thinking of buying?
- Do you know of any good __________ (roofers, house cleaners, kitchen counter installers)?
- What's the HOA fee for X community? What does it cover?
- What will YOU do to market my home?
- Where's the closest grocery store? park? movie theater?
- Where are the pool communities?
- Where can I find a golf course home?
The more unique your topic and the more real estate relevant AND less covered by OTHER local agents, the better the odds the blog post garners you a call or more. Yes, blogging about a specific subdivision isn't sexy and won't get you a lot of comments in the Rain. And the audience isn't as broad as blogging about an entire city, but the closer a buyer or seller is to a decision, the more refined their search. If YOUR content is at the point of that refined search, you're more likely to get that call as they're ready to take action.
It's why we like to work our niche and provide a steady supply of posts about local patio homes and condos. And yes, it might be the third post about a particular new construction community, but each time we try to bring new information to the topic AND add another chance of being found.
And being found leads to calls. And sometimes, like yesterday, it means sitting across the table as our buyers get the keys to their brand new patio home! And that event becomes the source of ANOTHER blog post about our local 55+ community and another seed sown for future niche business.
So you need blog post topics? Listen to your local consumers and give them what they ask for. They're telling you, we just have to hear them.
Until next Tuesday, just Ask An Ambassador if you need help!
