Should I Buy a New Construction Home in San Antonio?

That’s a question real estate professions get from time to time from many buyers, who are looking for their first home, or even those considering moving up into a larger or luxury Dream Home. It always comes back to what is best for the buyer, and what will fit their needs better. There maybe a number of reasons why some prefer a new construction home over a pre-existing home. But, I normally consult my buyers to review the benefits of both, and see which one will meet their needs and expectations better. Often times the price maybe a determining factor, and other times the builder paid closing costs may be another reason.

New Perry Home in Stillwater RanchWith an increase in new home sales just about all over the country last month, the median prices for homes sales is steadily increasing. In San Antonio alone median price for new construction homes is well over $200,000, but some starting prices for a new construction homes are around $150,000, and that does not include any upgrades.

San Antonio has over 20 new home construction builders, and you can find new subdivisions and communities all over the city, but especially in the northwest and northcentral areas. The majority of them are located outside Loop 1604 in any direction. If you are looking in the Helotes area, you may want to take a look at the Triana Community. Going further west outside the loop, you may consider Sonoma Ranch, Stillwater Ranch, Kallison Ranch, Alamo Ranch, or Redbird Ranch just to name a few. In the Northcentral past Stoneoak, there are several fast growing communities, and if you’re interested in golfing, you may want to visit the Canyon Springs area.

No matter which community you decide on, your local San Antonio REALTOR® is ready to assist you For All of Your Real Estate Needs. Remember the builder’s sales agents only represent the new construction home builder, but you need your own Buyer’s Agent to look out for your Interests.

Jerry, new homes will always attract buyers, as there is nothing like picking out your colors, your model and being the first owner.  Great post!

Jerry Newman ~ hi Jerry... new construction is BIG in the Charlotte area and always has been with the exception of a few years when the market went sideways. I, myself, have built two houses since 2000. Nothing like the smell of a new home, I say!
