Huntsville Alabama Named "Best Affordable Place To Live"

Huntsville, AL

A few days ago I received a message from John & Debbie McCormack out in Albuquerque, NM that included a link to a news article about the Huntsville, Alabama area. I have to admit that I'm a little embarrassed that I didn't catch this before Debbie, but since she's from this area I'll cut myself a little slack.  So, John & Debbie, I thank you.

Check out WHNT's report on Huntsville's latest honor.

It's no wonder that Livability.com has voted Huntsville, Alabama the best affordable place to live! When I moved to Huntsville, Alabama 9 years ago what first caught my attention were the low real estate taxes...go figure...I'm a real estate broker! Anyway, I bought a comparable home here in Alabama to the one I own outside the Chicago area and taxes here are more than 13 times less than in Chicago.  My taxes in Chicago are like a mortgage payment, but here they're a minor annoyance. The cost of a home is also more affordable here, adding to that the low unemployment of 5.2% in Huntsville or 4.1% for Madison and a healthy outlook for growth, Huntsville, Alabama is a great place to live.  In part that's due to the presence of NASA, the space program and the Redstone Arsenal.  Nerdwallet.com rates Huntsville as the best place for engineers way ahead of other areas regarding the opportunities for engineers. Getting around is usually a breeze and getting there less costly...as of the writing of this post regular gasoline where I stop is currently at $1.44.9/gallon. Huntsville, AL offers much to its residents: Children Early Works, Sci Quest, NASA, Ditto Landing, Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, Monte Sano State Park, nightlife and so much more.

John McCormack - Debbie, I know I don't have to sell you on Huntsville - seems like a little thing such as ALABAMA FOOTBALL would be enough to bring you back from the Land of Enchantment!

I guess the weather isn't too bad there, either. At least compared to Chicago. I bet it's a bit warmer during the winter months. This is great news about your area, Nick.

Great tag line for Hunstville, Al Nick T Pappas and the low taxes are a real bonus.

Having never been to Huntsville I appreciate knowing this.  Also, I didn't realize that Chicago was so expensive.  Keep blogging about Huntsville and more people will want to move there.
