Can One Have Too Many Decks? Part Three...

Welcome to the third installment about my decks. Part One is about the sunny area & part two is about the covered part & daybed with storage I made for it.

front deck

I built my first deck here in the Okanagan in 2014. I needed some outdoor space to enjoy the glorious weather here in the Spring, Summer & Fall...

My third deck was built in 2015 to replace an old rotten deck that had been there since before I bought this place. I wanted an area close to my storage shed that I could paint & have a bit of privacy while enjoying the weather.

I stained the wood with a redwood coloured stain so it would hold up to the elements & go with the blue grey of the siding.

copper trellis

As there was a rule against walls & fences between properties, I added copper trellis to each corner to add some privacy once the plants get established.

corner box

I also built corner planter boxes for both veggies, grapes & flowers.

A water feature to drown out any ambient noise, & because I love the sound...

Now I can use it to paint, or carve, or sit & enjoy a glass of wine, since I am surrounded by vineyards in my area.

Now I just need the snow to go away so I can go out & enjoy it again!

Here's to a new Year of possibilities!

Hi Peg, I don't think its a matter of a number, but what is the purpose.

That's true Ronald!

Each one of my decks serve a different purpose.

I'm always talking about outdoor rooms extending one's living space & my 3 decks do that!

Thanx for stopping by!

Hi Peg, this is a great series. Nearly everyone wants a deck to enjoy their yard.

Thanx Noah!

(I'm really just trying to get back in the blogging swing of things & figure out how the new interface works)

But it's nice to know there might be some value in my blatherings!

Decks are a great way to enjoy the outdoors and still be comfortable.

I think it is the perfect number for your place and as you said it expands the living space which is something people want. I like both of them.

So True BB!

Especially when each one has a different purpose or faces a different direction. One can choose full, part or No sun!

Thanx Sharon!

You haven't seen the third one.

It was quite the wreck when you were here, with rotted wood your foot would go through...

I'm glad to have a nice solid one there instead.
