Such a Great idea.  I had not thought about going back to that post and updating or marking sold or anything else like that.

Thanks for sharing this idea worth making note of.

I saw a question that someone asked about blog topics that work for them.  I'd like to share some ideas with  you that might help you write some posts that not just get ActiveRain comments, but help make your phone ring as well.

  1. We're encouraged to write about local events, but what happens when in two years someone calls you up and says.. Hey I went to the park on July 3rd and nothing was there?  DATES... include the year in your date for event posts.  It's important to know if they are the fireworks for 2007 or 2016. So whenever you write a post about an even always include the year in your post, even in your headline is good.
  2. Listings:  Yes, a listing won't last forever, but you don't want to delete your post.  You might want to come back and edit it to say "sold"  "missed this one" ect... and instead of just linking to more information about ONE listing in that post you might want to always include a link to your search landing page.  "this one is gone, but click here" for new listings like it.
  3. Subdivision and community posts:  These can be timeless.  You can use links to available properties in these posts ... which might not be timeless depending upon where you link to and your IDX feed.  When I have a link to a subdivision or community it will always show what is currently available in those areas.
  4. Business highlight posts:  Timeless as long as they are still in business. If they close, you might want to edit or take it down
  5. Vendor recommendations:  Timeless... as long as they are still in business and you'd still recommend them.  I've edited a couple over the years as different vedors have retired.

I hope that will give you some blogging ideas and the knowledge to put a date with the  year in event posts so that when people find them they will be relavent and bring you business.

Great choice for a reblog, Ginger. Especially with all the new people coming into Active Rain.
