Angie Ridley - I agree completely with Richie Alan Naggar .  As for a corporation buying up land - they shouldn't have the right to take land at their will. It is supply and demand - right?  If the corp. wants the property they should negotiate for it. If the party doesn't want to sell or move, the corp. needs to offer what it takes for the property to be sold.

My husband worked for UPS and they need a lot of land to build a hub. They were able to buy up everything but one little house. UPS negotiated to buy the property but the elderly lady was allowed to live there until she passed on. That home sat there for about 8 years before the inevitable happened.  UPS did the right thing! UPS even built a huge wall on 3 sides to keep the noise down.

That is what corporate responsibility is all about in my opinion...

Thank you for the comments.  I love responses.  From what I understand "top dollar" is paid as well as moving expenses and more.  This happened to my own family, my grandmother and grandfather.  The government paid them to put an expressway through and took their home.  They had 14 kids... they were able to move to a nicer home in a area they liked.  That's one good story, I am sure for every good story, there is probably a nightmare too.  :-)
