GOOD IDEA? Maybe!!

Real Estate Agent with McGraw Realtors
At my office meeting this week a woman from a warrenty company gave us a speech for free food.  Got to love it.  Well she gave us door hangers that we could put out on FSBOS stating "I as a Realtor would pay for the home warrenty if the seller would list with me." Now keep in mind it runs about $420 and would come out at closing, but I would pay taxes on it.   Has anyone else used this type of baiting.  Or something else?  Do you think it would work??

She was  putting a marketing job on you guys. She is using you to do her job for her. Tell her to put the door hanging material on the doors.

Shannon - I'd like to think a seller chooses to use my service for a reason other than saving $420 at closing. Not sure I'd want a listing where that would make a difference.

I have thrown in or offered to pay half of something to make a deal go to closing. But, I've never offered such a "deal" up front.

Most agents approaching fsbos are trying to offer them something of value even before they sign a listing agreement.  Some offer the 800# rider that has info available 24 hrs a day, then the Realtor gets the leads.  Others are offering the single property website to FSBO's as a way to establish a relationship.

Shannon,

Be sure you check the Real Estate rules regarding things of value.  I'm not real clear on how it exactly works here in Oklahoma, but it seems like to me you have to be very careful.
