STUDIO CITY, CA - Vermin infestation, no hot water, sewage discharge. The list of reasons why restaurants are closed by the Los Angeles County Health Department is stomach churning. When you add in food trucks, swimming pools and other facilities, the closure list soars from 123 to more than 200.
And don’t think it’s only somewhere else this happens. Included in the list are eateries in Los Angeles, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Cerritos, Santa Monica, North Hollywood, Venice, Tarzana, Artesia, Culver City, Northridge and many more.
Most restaurants that are closed for critical violations reopen within a few days after correcting the problem that forced the closure. But beyond major violations that force immediate closure are minor infractions that produce unsanitary conditions which could lead to outbreaks of foodborne or viral illnesses.
