Sitting in my office in San Miguel de Allende Mexico one day I was trolling the Internet for houses in my old home town just out of curiosity. My sister had mentioned on a recent call that it would be nice if I could spend the summer up there with the family sometime. Don't plant a seed with me because I always make it grow!
Anyway I found this small little house on a huge lot in the village a block from the restaurants and shops and 2 blocks to the lake front park. I was interested. I called the realtor who was very sweet and quite up there in age and asked some questions. I was even more intrigued.
Long story short she says "Oh come to my open house on Sunday!" All excited. I told her I was in Mexico and she said "oh for God's sake that's only 30 minutes away!" Apparently there is a Mexico, NY, I said "no honey I am in the REAL Mexico!"
She had never had an international client in her 60 year career!
Here are the before and afters........
Here you can see the new window frame to replace those small windows. Notice that from the window wall I had cut off one third of the ceiling to make a loft. Spiral staircase coming, window on left going.
Kitchen before I expanded it to double size using part of the old front porch.
Same corner as above with ceiling now vaulted and better cabinets-LOL
Loft space that was once the attic
Dining room with new window
Enclosed porch, all new windows, new paint, new roof,
redirected front door and small entry porch addition.
So there you have my little story how I went from Mexico to central NY to re-do my little village summer cottage.
