Miami Beach to get 35 new life guard stands

And you guessed it they probably won't look like a stand you have seen before. Architect William Lane created 5 different models and the city council will decide.

After Hurricane Andrew wiped them out in 1992 Mr. Lane created the replacements. Now for an update.

After city council decides on the design, I think you and I should decide on the lifeguards that go in them!

The governmental process certainly is slow for this often overlooked but necessary department of beach safety. Nearly 25 years out in the elements can weather the youth out of our men and women who protect the hoards of vacationers and local beachgoers alike. Lfeguards always seem like jerks until it becomes necessary that YOU need them!

Those look pretty cool.  But, I guess that's a long time for replacements.

Hi Marco Giancola

Very nice lifeguard stand. I live in CA and we have many old ones but quite a few cement stations that have wood or fiberglass structures on the top to withstand the heavy surf year round. I like the modern design and bright colors.
