When you are having a bad day in real estate....

By
Real Estate Agent with Compass CA DRE# 01215160

When you are having a bad day in real estate.....just think of all the jobs that would be worse.

My list includes this, danging  by one rope from a 14-story building on a little, little swinging seat!

window washers at 7040 Franklin Street

This was taken looking up from my 7th floor office window yesterday - I must say I was distracted for a bit as I counted my blessings.

Some people work very hard, in dangerous jobs, for low pay!

Just counting my blessings today.

The building pictured, 2040 Franklin Street at Jackson Street, San Francisco is a condo project, converted from apartments. Here you can find 1- and 2-bedroom condos, and a few studios. Many units have fabulous views of the San Francisco bay to the north, or city views to the east and the south. And--as you can see--the building is well maintained, including window washing.

Lottie-I definitely wouldn't want to do that job. There is always something to be thankful for if we look for it.

Hi Brenda Mayette - I'm not particularly afraid of heights, but that gave me the willies just looking at it.

Good morning, Joyce Marsh - we're very fortunate to be doing what we love, even with stress, disappointments, etc.

Hello Sharon Lee - so true! I'm glad washing windows that way is not part of my job, which I truly enjoy.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel - hi, Alexandra, many condo buildings here in SF, like mine, utilize larger platforms, with one or two cleaners and multiple sets of ropes. That looks much less frightening to me. Enjoy your day!

Lottie, That is NOT a job I'd want!  I might have been able to do it years and years ago, but now?  No thanks!  Bill

I must admit I play this mental game every so often. The thought of being chained behind a desk is more than I could bear. Dangling like that would be worse.

I'm not afraid of heights, but the thought of hanging out there and trying to work at the same time is dizzying.  Thanks for the reminder about counting our blessings!

Oh, I don't know, sometimes I would rather be dangling from a skyscraper than dealing with some of the issues we face :)  Just kidding. This puts things in perspetive.

Lottie, I do not think I would mind that job ... if the pay was good. The issue for me is not the height or danging by a rope ... but doing that while the wind is blowing which happens a lot in San Francisco

I would not want to do any kind of construction work on a high building, some of those super tall skyscrapers would scare the beejesus out of me. I don't know how workers can prevent looking down from 30 stories in the air and getting freaked out!

Hi Liz and Bill Spear - I'll take my job over dangling from a little rope high above the street any day!

Debbie Reynolds - being chained to a desk wouldn't suit me, either.

Greetings, Dana Tapia & Lisa Pigott - I think I have trust issues - that one little rope.....

Hi Mark Loewenberg - I remember previewing an older house built on a steep hillside--it sloped forward so much, that I walked with my hands against the uphill wall--didn't stay in it long, and certainly didn't take my clients there. It gave me the willies.

Hi Jane Peters - so instead of being upset that I didn't get the listing I hoped for, I'll be glad I do what I do instead of dangling over the abyss!

I know, Kathleen Daniels - working on the high cables of the GG Bridge would be another intimidating job.

Definitely, Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland - I must rely on our HOA to keep the exterior of the windows clean -- no way for me to do that myself.

HOA's are good for just this one reason...so you don't have to do the washing.
