Yosemite Valley Firefall

Yosemite Firefall on Horsetail FallsOne of the best parts of living in Lake Tahoe is that it is relatively close to many other world class photographic locations. I just returned from two wonderful, and very long days in Yosemite National Park. During the last two weeks of February there is a natural lighting occurance that, if all conditions come together, makes Horsetail Falls appear to be on fire. I was fortunate to have quite good conditions on this trip, and here is the result. I hope you enjoy the image. Feel free to let me know if you would like one for your walls:) Now I'm off to show homes here in South Lake Tahoe. Have a great weekend.

Jon,

What a gorgeous shot!  We have been to Yosemite several times, and it seems like we always discover something new.  Thanks for sharing this moment with us. A

Hi Jon - That's a fabulous photo, and I'm sure the small format robs it of a good bit of its glory. Well worth the effort!

Thanks Dick. Can't wait to print it very large. Just being out there is worth the effort. A great photo is icing on the cake.

Love it.  I'm a fan of dark shots, and this almost looks Lord-of-the-Rings-esque.  Dark, but beautiful!

What a gorgeous photo.  I've been seeing about the phenomenom of this waterfall in Yosemite looking like lava during a particular time of day.

OH, how STUNNING and all natural! Jon, people who aren't photographers don't always know the lengths we will go to to get that "just right" photo!

Yup, I put that kind of commitment in, too with almost all photo excursions. That's why I find it best to go alone, Jon, so that I don't bore others and they don't hold me back from stopping copious amounts of times during the trip!

Thank you Gayle. And you are correct. Most people don't care to go where I go, when I go there. The commitment and experience create the art.
