Social Media Marketing - Get Results by Being InvolvedSocial media marketing is about give and take. In order to get results from your social media marketing efforts, you have to get involved with the people in your network.

So many times I hear people say that social media marketing is a waste of time. It's too hard to keep up with. It doesn't do anything for their bottom line. My question is, "How involved are you?" Being actively social on your Facebook page, Twitter, Google+ or any other network is critical to building your brand. You don't have to belong to every single social network; but you do need to be active on the ones you do belong to.

As a Realtor®, you have the opportunity to meet and build relationships with people all around the world. When you take the time to get involved in social media conversations, you open yourself up to opportunities to meet people you otherwise would not have met. You never know if one your new "friends" will turn into a home buyer or seller.

Social media gives you a chance to not only stay in touch with people you've done business with, it also provides you with an opportunity to get to know their connections as well. By expanding and being involved in your networks, you open yourself up to the possibility of meeting people who are interested in your real estate services. They're more likely to contact you since you've already made a good impression.

Sharing your expertise with your social media networks helps you stand out. You can provide valuable information without appearing to be too "salesy". Answer questions, discuss your point of view and ask for your network's feedback about a particular subject. Let them get to know you as an individual by sharing your hobbies, fun photos and other information.

Social media marketing results take time. You can speed the networking process up a bit by boosting a Facebook post or paying for exposure on the network you're active in. Ultimately, though, social media marketing is about building relationships and long term connections. You need to get involved with your networks in order to get results.

Mary that's funny because just today somebody asked "Is Facebook Marketing Dead and why?"

Loreena Yeo Some good statistics I picked up:
1. 1B people log into to FB daily.
2. Most engagements tend to be in the evenings (7pm better than 8pm).
3. Thursdays and Fridays better than any other weekdays.

I have always thought so too. But then I said to myself "Why do we always want something but we don't want to give?".  I believe in The laws of reciprocity- when someone does something nice for you, you will have a deep-rooted psychological urge to do something nice in return.

So like you said we need to engage more with our followers and comment on their posts.
