FRIDAY NIGHT PHOTO

Cactus

Since I don't get enough exercise I have started walking. On my walk-about I found this huge cactus plant. You can't tell by the photo but the plant is about six feet tall or taller. It is about the width of a king size bed. It is really big.

I see these plants everywhere; however, I don't know what it is called. I assumed it was a cactus plant but can't seem to find its name.

I just marvel at it simple beauty.

Good morning Sussie Sutton . They almost looked like a variation of the Spanish bayonet. Like you, I need to get out and start doing more walking.

It looks like a century plant, but I'm not sure.  We have one at one of our rental properties and it is shooting out a big flower from the middle.  These plants get huge!  It is beautiful, thanks for sharing!

WOW! That's a BIG Cactus! I can tell by the fence in the back and its size in relation to the roof line too! I would imagine it's slow growing and if so it must be very, very old!

I am sure it is very old due to the size alone. I am tempted to stand next to it and have my picture.

Hi, Sussie. Cool picture. Isn't that some kind of Yucca plant? It's pretty awesome whatever it is.

Hello Sussie and that is a beautiful plant and I have a friend in Morgan Hill in California that has 5-6 feet tall plants just like this.

They are amazing and very valuable ;o)

I want one of those really tall cactus' found in the desert. I would have to grow one of my own. I would would not want to go and dig one up.

Yes it is big. Today I saw the owners in the distance. I wanted to go and ask if I could go onto their property to take a picture with the plant. Then they left. Oh well maybe next time.

My fear is that someone could impale themselves on one of those leaves... they are super sharp.

Sussie, I believe the plant is a Yucca Gloriosa.  I have one in one of my flower beds.
