The Moment You Lost The Sale
My idiot darling son totaled his car. He's fine! Just youthful crazy taking it's toll. He was driving a few kids back to college after a debate team event. It was dark and instead of driving to the stop sign and turning up the road....all those nice paved roads....he took a turn across the hypotenuse through a field. All this in rural Illinois and low and behold, there was a ditch. Boom!
Now that I have the amount of money that my insurance company is giving me for the car, I've been car shopping.
I'll admit that I'm tempted to buy the lime green Kia Soul or the purple Toyota Corolla, but I'm resisting. Kids do silly things and this is just one of those moments our parents warned us about. Sigh.
Last night I went to a car lot (ack) and walked through the used car section. I was approached immediately by a "sales"man. I let him ramble about who he was to the dealership, some kind of portfolio something-or-other, and then I wanted to talk about what I needed.
A sentence or so in, I was cut off for more information about what he had in stock. Interrupted and directed to information that I did not need and did not pertain to my needs.
THAT was the moment you lost the sale....just in case he was wondering.
