New costs more....is it worth it?

Homes are not much different than cars when it comes to price and value. A new car costs more, it has no miles on it and requires less maintenance early on, and in general forever (technology). Homes aren't much different. Inflation drives up the price slowly over the years. Technology helps, but not much tech in lumber. We like to look at it as you can pay us now, or pay us later. Why not pay now and get what you want. Do a build to suit, which means build it for YOU. It is a tad more expensive than off the shelf..but you save in the long run, and get what you want.

I have often wondered. I see so many new homes with problems out here because of the developers cutting corners, the older homes were built with much more quality. That said, a custom home by a reputable builder, like you, would be lots of fun without the worry.

Karen Fiddler, Broker/Owner  and think of the wine and beer after each day of building !!! when a good builder builds, he builds as if he will live there. constantly on top of business...making sure its done right. track builders dont work like that. Small builders can afford to put more quality and kindness into a home cause of lower overhead. at least thats our thought. appreciate the shout out ! thanks karen

Hello Mike, a lot of builders just build the same basis box over and over again. I am sick and tired of it. They may look a lil different but they are the same under the skin. Custom usually means different materials, supplies, better quality, a lot of different things. Yep, expect to pay a lot more. In addition to paying for construction of the home,you have to purchase the land,adding significant costs. In general,buying is a much less stressful process.BUT,the primary advantage of building a new,gorgeous custom home is that it can be build to individuals specifications.Just spell your needs and wants. You better know what you want... I would love it if you build me a beautiful custom Santa Barbara home. Maybe someday.... That's my dream....

If people could understand how to compare a new home to a new auto and the loss of value in the car verses the equity you will build, there would be even more demand for new construction!
